AKC Urban CGC is a title in the Canine Good Citizen family of awards and titles that also include AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, Canine Good Citizen and AKC Community Canine. AKC Urban CGC requires that the dog demonstrate CGC skills and beyond in an urban setting. The Urban CGC has a 10-step test of skills that dogs must pass to earn the official AKC Urban CGC title.

Skills Learned

  • Since this test is designed to test real world skills, we will be meeting in various locations around town to practice, and then test, the 10 Urban CGC skills, including
  • entering and exiting buildings without pulling
  • walking through a crowd on a busy sidewalk
  • appropriate reaction to city distractions
  • ignoring food on sidewalks
  • down/stay in public lobby or outdoor area

Notes

You are welcome to take this class regardless of whether or not you want the Urban CGC title. To register this title, dogs must already have a CGC on record with the CGC, and must have one of the 3 AKC registration number types. If you have not yet taken the CGC test, please call to arrange to take the CGC test before the final Urban CGC class.
